23. I have a super-power called " i can make everyone hungry in 20 seconds." Just by talking to me, most people seem to get hungry. It's true. Ask Danalyn or Tiggerprr just to name a couple of people. I simply talk about food, and people get hungry. It's amazing. I am only reminded of Spiderman, when I use my power:
"With great power comes great responsibility."
I promise to use my power wisely. And will never to use it except for special circumstances. Or to just annoy the crap out of my friends. "Dude, stop making me hungry!"
I just wanted to let everyone know that due to my love of food, how much I love to talk about it, and how much I love to eat it, I've finally gotten around to getting a new site up exclusively about food. hello! Food is a new site that will have various things about food, including recipes, reviews, and just general "I love this food" type posts. There's not much there at this moment, but bookmark it for the future, and add it to your aggregators, as I'm expecting this site to get busy.
I really wanted to open the site up for a community as well. So if you have a love for food similar to mine, and would like to be a contributor to hello! Food, then by all means, let me know, and we can get all set up for that.

While I was stationed in Japan in MCAS Iwakuni (1993-1995) I learned a lot of things about Japan. First of all, I was 24 years old then. When I last stepped foot in Japan prior to that, I was 15 years old. A lot of things can happen between those years. Those are life changing years. Since I was much older, and an adult then, I got to go to places that I never would have went to. Places like hostess clubs, love hotels, and such. Although honestly I never did get to go to a love hotel, as they were a bit spendy, especially when the yen rate was so horrible. Although hostess clubs weren't any cheaper either!
But no, Japan is tons of fun. One memory I have while stationed there was what everyone called "The Chicken Shack." Now, I'm betting that most people in Iwakuni are still calling it that. And if not, I don't see why not! The Chicken Shack is actually a very expensive restaurant called Sanzoku. Now I'm betting you're wondering why it's called "The Chicken Shack" and you'd be of good mind to wonder about that. Because it is the place we bring all the new folks who get stationed there, and they serve chicken (which is always a safe food option in Japan), it's thusly called "The Chicken Shack." Nevermind that it's not the real name of the place. You learn that people give nicknames to a lot of places.
But The Chicken Shack was a very cool place. Very "Japanese-y" if you will. (forgive my Engrish.) The service was great, the people were friendlly, and although they didn't speak very well english, people always managed to get their point across and get the food that they wanted. I've really got to find some old photos of that area and post them, to accompany this post.
Hey Iwakuni-ites, are you missing it? It was way too expensive there though. I think most of us really preferred going just outside the front gate, and going to California Chicken. I miss that place, because you could pay in dollars there and the chicken was exceptional.

So this weekend was pretty unexciting. I worked on Saturday, because of an urgent call from home office about some big major new events, and I wanted to get things close to done before Monday. It turned out all well and good I think, since things haven't quite moved that far yet. (keyword: yet)
On Sunday, we did the usual bowling thing (you know we're in a league) and I wouldn't normally post about this, but something good actually happened. My friend Karen said that she was going to bowl a 200, and that I had to roll one too, because of the Asian connection and all. (she's half japanese) So I said, "ok." Sure enough, game 3, I got a 201. Yes, please applaud, because my average is 117 normally. (pathetic I know) And we actually beat our opposing team. They're really good, but did real crappy last night. Probably because they felt sorry for us! But no seriously. It was a good bowling night. Meesh did very well herself! She's doing really good, so much better than me!
This next upcoming Saturday, Meesh will be hosting a jewelry party, and I'm in charges of horderves, and was wondering if anyone had any favourites and suggestions! I was planning on making at the very least meatballs (although I'm not sure what time the party will start... this may impact what I'm cooking) and some other appetizer types I've been wanting to try.
Any ideas people?
